Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Panto at St Helens Theatre Royal

Last night we drove over to St Helens after school to go to the Snow White and the seven dwarfs panto at the Theatre Royal. It is quite a drive but we loved the Panto there last year so we knew they put on a good show and we were not wrong. Snow White was played by Lucy Jo Hudson (from Coronation Street) and the magic mirror was played by Johnny Vegas by way of a video recording. Lucy had a fabulous singing voice and apart from the lack of black hair, she made a perfect Snow White with her happy disposition and dancing ability.

Si Foster the resident dame, switched to the dark side for his role as Evil Queen Camilla and we all felt the need to boo him as he performed the role with flair. He was the perfect Panto Villian with his amazing costumes and fantastic pyrotechnics which had us jumping in all the right places.

Lewis Devine as Muddles was a great character for humour and audience participation and the audience warmed to him nicely. He helped to move the story along and provided a lot of the giggles coming from my girls. They particularly enjoyed his horse routine.

The show included special effects including a fantastic 3D sequence in the second half which had us laughing and jumping out of our skins all within the space of a few minutes. Just watch out because sitting near the back does not prevent you from getting wet as we found out during this segment.

We would definitely recommend Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at St Helens Theatre Royal as a must see Panto. It contains everything you need with fantastic singing, brilliant dance routines and lots of humour as well as all the “oh no you won’t”s that you could possibly need.
