Fit to dance with Ashley Banjo – Disney On Ice

A few weeks ago I went to a very special event where the girls and I had the opportunity to create a fabulous Disney based story with some of the Disney on Ice skaters and Ashley Banjo. The event was to promote the Fit to Dance programme which we helped to launch a few years ago.

Fit to Dance is all about getting kids active and using stories to get them moving. If you are heading to Disney on Ice over the next few weeks then make sure you get there early to take part in the Zootropolis Fit to Dance pre-show.

When we took part in Fit to Dance we created a story based on the Lion King. We had snakes, lions, monkeys and elephants come to life as we took a trip through the savanna.

The Disney on Ice skaters are used to telling the Disney stories through dance and movement. After a quick warm up with Ashley Banjo, the skaters helped all of the children to create their own story and decide what sort of actions they would want the characters to perform.

Kids from all ages are able to create their very own stories and act them out through the power of dance. We drove through the jungle, swam in the watering hole, ran from a stampede and rescued the treasure from the lions before collapsing in a sweaty heap.

  1. Looks like you had a fun session with the Disney on Ice Crew.
We’ve just been to see Disney on Ices Passport to Adventure and had a great time. Even as a nearly 40 year old Dad, I just love the Disney stories that suck you in. We did get there early and saw the Zootropolis Pre Show too.
