Top mobile phone apps to help around the house

In this day and age, it seems we are never far away from our mobile phones and most of us spend far too much time procrastinating on them when we could be doing something useful so it got me thinking. What can my phone do to help me with everyday tasks around the home?My main problem now at the moment is poor time management, I turn my computer, tablet or phone on, look up and hours have passed me by Choremaster helps you keep track of the time you spend doing things as well as reminding you what else you need to be doing.

One brilliant app allows you to redecorate your house virtually to see if you like the colour scheme before you even put any paint on the walls.

When thinking about our bills it seems as though everyone has their own apps, from doing the online grocery shopping to checking my mobile phone usage there is no need to visit any of the websites anymore when you can keep all your bill apps in one place. At the moment all of the big six gas and electricity companies offer their customers free-to-download apps but, sadly, not all of the smaller energy providers have followed the trend yet. Keeping track of your bills this way hopefully should start to save you money as well as time. You should also use Bill Reminder to give you a gentle nudge a few days before a bill is due so you can make sure you have enough money in the bank and avoid any bank charges.

Another way to save money is by turning down your thermostat by a few degrees and guess what? There is an App for that! Heatmiser have a fantastic wifi Thermostat that allows you to remotely control the temperature of your heating system. If you are coming home late and forgot to change the timer just use your app and turn it down or if it is particularly cold on the way home from the office, turn up the thermostat and be nice and cosy when you get home. It is so ridiculous it is brilliant!

When thinking about your mobile phone bill I also found two fantastic apps that will help me save money. The first is one that finds Free internet hotspots when you are out and about, this will tell you where your nearest one is so if you are out buying a new pair of shoes and you quickly have to pretend you are in the office turn it on find the nearest hotspot and go and nurse a cup of coffee until you have finished your work.  The second app is to prevent you from paying over the odds on premium-rate numbers like 0845 and 0870.

With so many fantastic apps available I am sure there are a lot more that can help me in my daily life. One I will be looking into when I am back from my holiday is Love Food Hate Waste allows you to easily keep track of food planning, shopping, cooking meals and making the most of leftovers.
